For the O'Sullivan Family & Adeline's Angels

This is their story as per Jennifer Allegria:

"My family has been participating in Walk to Defeat ALS since 2013. My aunt formed the team to honor my grandmother, Adeline, who was diagnosed with ALS when she was 51. She was a beautiful woman with a gorgeous heart. As a mother of 9, she loved spending time with her family and filling the table with food. Most of all, grandmom loved to see everyone happy and together.

ALS dates back as far as i can see on our family tree. My grandmother Adeline lost 4 siblings to this horrendous disease and a nephew a few years ago.

In December 2021, my father was diagnosed with ALS.

The urgency for defeating ALS was always there, but it personally intensified dramatically. I spent a lot of time with grandmother during the years she suffered with ALS, and the thought of my father going through what she went through made me sick.

My father completed genetic testing, After his results cam back, that was the first time i heard of familial ALS - we had the gene CHCHD10. I knew at that point i had to get involved to find a cure for my entire O'Sullivan/Bauer family, along with all people suffering from ALS. I am currently involved with a couple family members in studies with the top doctors in the world. We will defeat this horrible disease.

Our family's slogan is : In this family, no one fights alone. This slogan represents the entire O'Sullivan/Bauer family is banding together with all the ALS families. "

Thank you for helping me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal! The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.

That's why I'm walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You have ALS" again.

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.

But we can't stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
