Max's Mitzvah Project
Thank you for supporting my ALS United Walk fundraiser!
I will be turning 13 this November, after which I will become a Bar Mitzvah. Part of that process involves doing a Mitzvah Project, which is done to give back to the community and embody the Jewish values of "tikkun olam," or repairing the world, and compassion. I wanted to let all of our friends and families know that for my Bar Mitzvah Project, my family and I will be participating in the Philadelphia ALS United Walk to raise raise money and awareness for ALS.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
That's why I'm walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You have ALS" again.
