Yvonne's Cure Chasers: Saying YES to fight ALS

Family & friends:

Thank you for taking the time to visit and support my ALS United Walk fundraiser! The ALS United Walk raises funds for local patient care programs and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

As you may know, this is a cause very near and dear to my heart. My mother, Yvonne Dollar-Perry, was recently diagnosed with ALS after being misdiagnosed with MS for 2 years. My mother-in-law, Sharon Farmer, bravely battled ALS as well and lost her fight November 3, 2019.

If thinking, “what is ALS?” Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. It is a wicked disease and to have it attack both of the mother’s in my life feels more than cruel.

However, despite our pain, we are prepared to fight and to help those with ALS improve the life expectancy and quality of life currently projected.

That's why I'm walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease, especially my own mother.

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.

But, this is only the beginning. We can't stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.

Please consider joining my team, walking with me, or sponsoring us with your donation. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.

All my love,
Elizabeth
