Assistive Technology

The Scott A. Mackler, MD, Ph.D., Assistive Technology Program provides people with ALS access to assistive technology devices and services that are often not covered by insurance policies. Additionally, the Program ensures that assistive technology services are an integral part of ALS clinics and certified treatment centers.

Research Programs

Thanks to your donations and advocacy, ALS United Mid-Atlantic leads a bold research agenda that includes significant investments in promising trials. Since 2017, new therapies have been approved by the FDA to treat ALS, including Radicava and Qalsody, bringing hope to the ALS community.

ALS Certified Centers and Clinics

We collaborate with some of the best ALS physicians and clinics in our region. These clinics emphasize hope and quality of life in a supportive, family-oriented environment, while enabling patients to receive specialized care during a single visit from a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals.

Resources for Military Veterans

ALS United Mid-Atlantic is working every day to support people with ALS and their families, including our heroes who have served in the military and who are approximately twice as likely to develop ALS as those who have not served.

Resource & Support Groups

ALS United Mid-Atlantic hosts Support Groups throughout our service region to provide an opportunity for those living with ALS, caregivers, families and friends to be mutually supportive, exchange practical information, and share their experiences. We also provide support groups specifically for caregiver and bereavement support. All groups are free of charge.
