Patience Roli Okotie – Isekenegbe, beloved mother to 4 children, 65, of Vineland, New Jersey, passed away on May 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a valiant battle with ALS, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
She taught elementary school in Nigeria before coming to the United States. She received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Indiana State University and her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from South Carolina State University. She proudly worked for the state of New Jersey as a rehabilitation counselor for 25 years.
Remaining to cherish Patience’s memory are her husband of 45 years, Thomas, Barbara, Theodora ( Dr. Scott Cushing), Antoniette, and Oshioke; Sylvia Papamitsos–Tucker, Steve Tucker, Elektra Tucker.
ALS is a devastating disease with no known treatment or cure. It causes emotional, physical, psychological, and financial challenges that impact not only the individual but families, friends, co-workers, and communities. People with ALS are not alone. ALS United Mid-Atlantic is here to offer comfort and support through multiple care programs to help ease the difficult journey. Funding research initiatives also remains a priority to end this disease.
