Valsa Pattara Memorial
Mom's birthday and mine are seven days apart and periodically fall around Easter. Six years ago, in 2018, we were in Israel. Hers was the day before Palm Sunday and mine the day before Easter.
She was walking miles and climbing hills every day of that trip. A year later, on Easter weekend, in Scranton, an ED hospital visit kicked off a 6-month series of tests and doctors appointments that resulted in ALS diagnosis on September 24, 2019. We lost her less than 18 months later - just 6 weeks shy of her 71st birthday.
The ALS Association of Philadelphia (now ALS United Mid-Atlantic) was a valuable resource for us, including helping us navigate caregivers. In honor and memory of our birthdays, please consider supporting their Abrams In-Home Care program which provides grants to support home care and respite.
I will be matching contributions up to $1,500 - hoping to raise $3,000 total.
