Support "The Hob Mile"
I lost my dad to bulbar onset ALS, and I'm walking in his memory. I'm also walking with a glimmer of hope that maybe one day no one else will have to say those words.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's disease) is an irreversible terminal illness that causes even the strongest among us to progressively lose muscle function until the body can no longer take it. The walk this Saturday isn't going to cure the disease or make our family and friends feel better, but it will bring us together to raise funds and awareness for ALS United Mid-Atlantic. ALS United Mid-Atlantic provides care and support to people with the disease and their families, connects people with clinical trials, and advocates for people affected by ALS.
My dad, Hob Mason, was a hard-working, fun, and thoughtful man with the heart of a lion. He couldn't fight ALS physically, but he didn't let it define him. He lived life to the absolute fullest and maintained a positive attitude until his very last breath. I will miss him forever.
