Walk to Defeat ALS
Hi everyone and thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page to Defeat ALS!My mom, Mary Ann Tiknis, lost her battle with ALS in 2022 - less than 2 years after her diagnosis. If you were lucky enough to know my mom, you already know what a caring, selfless, and laid back person she was. I walk to honor her and to help and bring hope to others who are currently living with ALS - including several of my friends' parents. If you do not know much about ALS, please read the information below: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, FATAL neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and PRESENTLY THERE IS NO KNOWN CAUSE OR CURE. Last year's Seaside Walk consisted of 22 teams and 211 individuals, and raised a total of $62,000.00! Please consider donating to this cause. Every little bit helps!
