Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that slowly leads to the loss of all voluntary muscle movement - taking away a person's ability to walk, speak, swallow, and eventually, breathe. Most people diagnosed live for just 2 to 5 years.

ALS United Mid-Atlantic provides critical support, resources, and services to people living with ALS and their families throughout our community. They help make sure families don’t have to navigate this devastating disease alone, while also supporting advocacy, awareness, and the search for better treatments and a cure.
