ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a cruel, relentless disease that slowly takes away the things we often take for granted: the ability to walk, to speak, to swallow, to breathe. Most people diagnosed live for just 2 to 5 years. ALS doesn’t discriminate, it can touch anyone, at any time. And right now, there is no known cause and no cure.

I’m walking because I love my friend Margit and I hate what this disease has done to her and her family.  I also have another friend who lost a family member to ALS before much was known about it, and her stories have shown me how much the support of organizations like this one help those living with ALS and their caretakers.  Margit has shown me that life is worth living even when it’s hard af, and I want to do as much as possible to help her and others dealing with this terrible disease continue living well.
