First of all, I want to thank those who will ride in this year's ride to defeat ALS and those who generously donated to Team Okay Kay. Kay and I were married for 50 1/2 years, and in 2019 she was diagnosed with ALS. It really didn't come as a great surprise to us, because Kay's brother Roger had already passed with this terrifying disease 20 years ago, as did her first cousin Reginald. So, we are no strangers to this awful disease. I have never in my 79 years on earth, ever meant a more courageous person than my wife, she never gave up the fight, nor did she stop praying for a cure of ALS, not only for herself, but for those who may contract this dreadful disease in the future. One of her favorite Bible verses was Philippians 4:13, this has become one of my favorites as well. On April 13th 2021 Kay lost her battle with ALS, but I believe she will win the war, because the Lord our God will guide the researchers and physicians, in not only finding a vaccine, for ALS but a cure as well. So, we thank you for joining the fight and we will win the war to defeat ALS!!

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
That's why I'm riding. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You have ALS" again.
The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
But we can't stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
