Last July, my father-in-law Bob (aka Bkells), Brendan’s step-dad was diagnosed with ALS. It sent a ripple of emotion through our family and has been one of the toughest challenges we never imagined we would have to face. Nothing prepares you for this. We have always been lucky to have such a great Dad who loves being with us. Some of our best memories growing up as a family of 5 kids were the days he coached our sports teams and took us to sporting events. We are certain that he even loves us MORE than the Philadelphia Eagles:)
As a family we continue to share the love of Philly sports and have always valued our time cheering the teams on together every chance we get. We love the sound of our Dad's special "Bkells clap" (a sign that one of our teams has made a good play) and we pray that we can continue to hear it for as long as possible.
During these tough times, we want our Dad to know that he is not fighting alone- WE are his Bullpen and WE have his back. We want him to know that we are in this journey together, United against ALS. Team Bkells is committed to raising money to support people in our local community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure for this awful disease.
